The incumbent is responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs and improve service levels across our global supply chain. This will include a strong focus on leveraging best practices and process improvements whilst collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure products are available to customers in a timely manner.
Main Functions:
- Develop and implement long-term strategies for logistics that align with organizational goals and market demands.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement and scalability.
- Ensure efficient movement of goods in compliance with company policies, procedures, and local and international laws including in-country transportation as well as exportation and importation of goods.
- Lead international freight operations (air, sea, land) to deliver cost-efficient, on-time shipments and maximum efficiency across the global supply chain.
- Manage import/export documentation, customs clearance, and trade compliance.
- Track shipments in real-time and resolve issues proactively.
- Build strong relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and third-party logistics partners (3PL) to ensure an integrated approach to logistics by enhancing overall business efficiency and synergy.
- Align logistics timelines with seasonal and promotional retail calendars.
- Optimize freight costs and manage annual logistics budgets. This includes identifying opportunities for cost-saving initiatives and efficient resource allocation.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the logistics function within the company and drive continuous improvement.
- Deliver effective logistics training to all staff under supervision.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or other related disciplines
- Certification in APICS, CILT or IATA will be an asset
- Extensive knowledge of customs, incoterms and global freight operations
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ international logistics experience in retail, e-commerce or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG)
- Experience with bonded warehouses and international distribution hubs will be an asset
- Strong vendor and third-party logistics (3PL) management skills
- Proven experience with ERP/ Logistics Systems such SAP, Oracle, etc
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Bilingual/ multilingual communication skills will be an asset
